Cody Alesch
Head Wrestling Coach
Cody Alesch is entering his first season as Head Coach for the Lakers. Cody was a two-time state place winner (2nd, 4th) from Graettinger High School. After graduating in 1998 he wrestled at Wartburg College where he was a 3-year letter winner, Academic All-American in 2000, member of National Championship Team in 1999 and National Runner-Ups in 2000 and 2002.
Cody graduated with a bachelor of arts in Elementary Education from Wartburg and an Associates degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Ill.
In 2006, he became the Head Wrestling Coach at Graettinger-Terril High School. In his 6-year stint as the head coach, he had 20 state qualifiers; 14 state place winners, 2 of which who were champions; 2 National High School Coaches Association Senior Academic All-Americans; 4 Team Regional Dual Qualifiers; 2 Sectional Team Championships; and, 2 District Team Championships.
In 2007, Alesch was named the Northwest Conference Coach of the Year and had an overall Dual Team Record of 65-38.
Cody resides with his wife, Teresa (6-12 Principal at Graettinger-Terril Community School District), and two children, Sacha (5) and Teague (2)
David Brown
GA Assistant Wrestling Coach
David Brown, a native of North Andover, Massachusetts is entering his first year as a graduate assistant for the Iowa Lakes wrestling team. David attended North Andover High School, winning 126 career matches and capturing the 130lb MA state championships in 1998.
After high school Brown attended Plymouth State College (NH) where he earned All-Conference honors 3X and also started 3 years on the rugby team. An injury his senior year kept him out of athletics and was named team captain of both sports. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education K-12 with minors in Health and Coaching.
After graduation Brown has been teaching and coaching for 8 years in several different states. He brings hard work, enthusiasm and experience to the wrestling program. David will be pursuing his master’s degree in High Education and Leadership at Iowa State University.
