Athletic Scholarships

Oliver M. Anderson Family Memorial Scholarship 

The Oliver M. Anderson Family Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 to benefit an Iowa Lakes Community College student athlete. Requirements are Estherville Lincoln Central graduating senior athlete, minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and plans to participate in athletic program at the college. Award is $4,000 and must be used for tuition, books or fees. Scholarship is renewable for second consecutive year.
 

Linda Heldt Memorial Scholarship

Linda Heldt, long-time Athletic Department Assistant at Iowa Lakes, lost a hard fought battle with cancer in 2007.  Throughout her years of service to Iowa Lakes Heldt earned the respect and admiration of numerous area coaches, officials, co-workers and student-athletes.

The Heldt Memorial Scholarship, established in 2007, is funded by the Linda Heldt Memorial Laker Scholarship Golf Outing (formerly known as the Laker Scholarship Golf Outing) as well as gifts from family and friends.  The golf outing is an annual event hosted by the Iowa Lakes Foundation and Athletic Department.  Many area businesses and individuals attend this event to memorialize Heldt and benefit student-athletes.

This scholarship is awarded to one sophomore student-athlete from each of the athletic programs at Iowa Lakes.  Recipients must be students that embody how Heldt believed student-athletes should conduct themselves on and off the court, track, course or field.
 

Matt Hunt Memorial Scholarship

The Matt Hunt Memorial Scholarship was established in 1989 at Iowa Lakes Community College by Pepsi Bottling Co. of Estherville, Iowa. Matt, an Iowa Lakes alumnus, enjoyed playing baseball while at Iowa Lakes and was employed by Pepsi at the time of his death. Requirements include full-time enrollment; returning sophomore baseball player and graduate of high school in Emmet, Kossuth, Clay, Palo Alto or Dickinson counties in Iowa or Martin County in Minnesota. The selection committee reserves the right to extend this area if deemed necessary. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.
 

Lady Laker Scholarship

In 2006 former female student athletes, coaches and female athletics supporters established the Lady Laker Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements are female student-athlete and sophomore status. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.
