Arthur Kahler of Bancroft honored his wife’s passion for her career and care of her family. He established the Mary J. Kahler Memorial Scholarship in 2006. Prior to her death, Mary loved to travel; raise flowers; garden; and entertain her nieces, nephews and other family at the farm she shared with Art. Mary worked as a nurse for over 43 years and was instrumental in starting the nursing program at Iowa Lakes. Requirements include full-time nursing program enrollment; permanent resident of Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth or Palo Alto counties in Iowa and a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.
The recipient receives $1,000 which must be used for tuition, books or fees. Congratulations to this year’s recipient, Janelle Benson of Spencer.
