The Mary and Gene Allbaugh Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004. The Allbaugh children, Suzanne, John and Kathy, decided to create the scholarship. The family lived in Emmetsburg, where Gene and Mary established the radio station and were instrumental in bringing cable television and the Iowa Lakes Emmetsburg campus to town. This $700 annual scholarship is intended to reinvest in the education of citizens served by Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include full-time enrollment, a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and financial need as determined by FAFSA results.
Award must be used for tuition, books, or fees.
The 2012-13 recipient is Justin McCormick of Spencer.
