The Ken Churchill – Bill Campbell Broadcast Scholarship was established in 2003. This was created in memory of Ken Churchill and in honor of Bill Campbell, both long-time radio broadcasters in Spencer. Awards are up to $500 and must be used for tuition, books and fees. Churchill hosted a mid-day show for nearly two decades and Campbell lived his radio broadcasting dream for nearly 33 years while serving in various capacities including the morning-show host. Though not employed in radio now, Campbell continues to support the industry and remains active in the community of Spencer.
Requirements include full-time enrollment in Broadcast Media Specialist program with one semester completed, a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and financial need as determined by FAFSA results. Preference may be shown to individuals participating in community service.
The 2012-13 recipients are Brandyn Hauswirth of Emmetsburg, and Courtney Luttrell of Adair.
