The Jean King Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2005. Jean taught nursing at Iowa Lakes for 21 years and then taught the University of Iowa RN/BSN program housed at Iowa Lakes. She greatly valued higher education and was an inspiration and role model to those who knew her. Eligibility requirements include full-time sophomore status in Associate Degree Nursing, a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and permanent Iowa resident.
The 2012-13 recipient is Edina Gichana of Emmetsburg.
