In 2001 the Duane Syverson Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College. Duane worked in the Estherville, Iowa, area for over 40 years as a mason doing concrete and brick work. This scholarship encourages others to also enjoy this career. Requirements include full-time enrollment in Construction Technology. Preference will be given to incoming freshmen. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.
The 2012-13 recipient is Spenser Diekmann of Estherville.
