BLACK HILLS ENERGY
Beginning in 2013, Black Hills Energy has updated the focus of our scholarship program. The focus of the new program is to build awareness of our industry and the opportunities we have available for men and women looking for a meaningful career in Energy Delivery. We are now offering two scholarships of $1,000 each to students enrolled in the two-year Natural Gas Utility Construction and Service program at Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) in Peosta, Iowa. Students who meet eligibility requirements may apply for these new Improving Life with Energy scholarships.

BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN OF IOWA

CARVER SCHOLARSHIP
Twenty $5,200 Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust Scholarships will be awarded to selected University of Iowa students who will be juniors for the Fall 2013 semester. Scholarships will be awarded to the applicants who best exemplify the industriousness shown by Roy J. Carver, who pulled himself up by his bootstraps to pursue and achieve the American dream. High school and two-year college students are invited to apply for a $1,000 scholarship from the CHS Foundation, the major giving entity of CHS Inc., the nation's leading farmer-owned cooperative.

Providian Medical Scholarship

Providian Medical, a leading company in the sales and service of new and refurbished ultrasound, MRI, and CT medical equipment, is pleased to announce its first annual “Providian Medical Scholarship.” At Providian Medical, we believe that education is key for anyone preparing to enter the workplace and embark on a career. To that end, we hope to play a small part in helping students achieve their educational goals with this bi-annual $500 scholarship.
To apply for the scholarship, you must submit an original essay of up to 1,500 words that describes how medical equipment technology has changed the face of a college course and curriculum. Entries can also include a look toward the future and how this area of study will continue to evolve and advance.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of principles and employees of Providian Medical. The decision of the panel will be based on originality, research, and quality of the essay submitted. Any student planning for a medical or veterinary career is especially encouraged to enter, however, students on any career path are also welcome to apply.

The Robert D. Blue scholarship is made possible by the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation. Any Iowa student who plans to attend an Iowa college or university is eligible for this award. ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP
This year, Rotary District 5970 will award three $5,000 District Grant Scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year. District Grant Scholarships may be used at the vocational/community college or four year college/university level for either undergraduate or graduate study. Scholarships will be awarded for one school year (two semesters of study) and paid directly to the recipient’s school of choice, once the recipient is successfully enrolled. The following information is intended to assist you in becoming an applicant for a Rotary District 5970, District Grant Scholarship. Go to this website for further details: http://district5970.org. To become a candidate for a Rotary District Grant Scholarship for undergraduate or graduate study, a person (a) must be sponsored by a local District 5970 Rotary club in his/her home town or by a local District 5970 club in the community in which he/she attends college or is employed and must then be selected for the scholarship by the Education Awards Committee in Rotary District 5970. The club president of the sponsoring club will need to sign the endorsement page and send it to me, along with the application materials you provide (see applicant checklist posted under the “scholarship” section online). YOUTH AND FAMILY RESOURCES OF EMMET COUNTY
Youth and Family Resources of Emmet County established two $500 scholarships for students who have completed at least one year of full-time college (or community college) credit with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5. Recipients must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5.
Applicants must show an interest in community service activities and demonstrate a positive character. Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in Criminal Justice, Sociology/Social Services, Education or related programs of study. Applicants may be pursuing undergraduate or post-graduate studies.
Applications must be received prior to June 15th and accompanied by a transcript of grades from the previous semester of study. Scholarships will be awarded by September 1st.
