Each of the 75-Hour Nurse Aide training sessions are for those interested in becoming a Nurse Assistant. This is a federally-mandated training course for nurse assistants to function in long term care facilities and to develop skills to care for the elderly. It is approved by and meets the guidelines established for Nurse Assistant by the Department of Inspections and Appeals.
You will need to bring a 3-ring binder to class. The student may wear street clothes for the classroom portion. A uniform (scrubs), white shoes and a watch with a second hand will be required for the clinical portion of the class (approximately 2 weeks into the course).
YOU MUST ATTEND AT LEAST 67.5 OF TOTAL 75.0 HOURS OF CLASS, OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE PAID FOR THE CLASS. You must have an 80% at the end of your classroom experience, or you cannot continue with the clinical portion of the class. Three hours of college credit is awarded for those successfully completing the class for credit. If you register in one of the classes and are a no show, you will be billed for the class. If you do not plan to attend, call 800-242-5108, Ext 5242 at least 48 hours prior to class. If you DROP from the class after you start, you must let us know immediately. Students will not be billed if they drop prior to the start of the 2nd class! If you do not let us know about the drop and you have taken the class as a college credit, you will receive a failing grade which is on your permanent transcript record.
FINANCIAL AID FOR CREDIT: To find out if you qualify for financial aid for this class check with the financial aid office 800-242-5108 or 712-852-5267 to see if you qualify prior to registration.
POST SECONDARY STUDENTS: Fill out an application from your Guidance Counselor after receiving permission from your school to take the course. It will be a college credit course and YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $135 TESTING FEE – not the school.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: As of July, 2010, we are required to do criminal background checks on ALL Nurse Aide students prior to the clinical portion of the class. Each student will be required to sign a release form that will allow us to do these checks. If the background check results in a “hit” or negative information, we will contact the student. If students have not been “cleared” by the Department of Human Services at the time the clinical portion starts, they WILL NOT be able to complete that part of class, which will result I a failing grade. Tuition will not be refunded.
