Iowa Lakes Community College

HEAD COACH

Kevin Farley

Iowa Lakes Soccer will be beginning play in Fall of 2009. Head Coach Kevin Farley has been given the responsibility and exciting opportunity to build the program.  A native of Lewisville, Texas, Coach Farley brings a vast background with him which includes a military, business, and soccer background.

Coach Farley spent six years in the United States Navy and stationed aboard the AEGIS Class Cruiser, USS Vincennes CG-49 in San Diego, California.  After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Coach Farley then spent several years in the business world where he gained excellent experience in sales.  Coach Farley feels that both opportunities helped him to become a better coach and a better person to help student-athletes find success.

“Being in the military and in the business world were wonderful experiences from which I learned a great deal.  From the discipline in the military to the people skills in the business world, I use lessons from these experiences on a daily basis to help others find success” said Coach Farley.

Although Coach Farley coached various levels during his time while in the military and business world, he began working professionally while living in Waco, Texas. It was there that he began coaching at the club level for the Waco Futbol Club, eventually being named the Director of Coaching.

Coach Farley then was named assistant men’s coach in Huron, South Dakota. After making it to the Regional Final in Coach Farley’s very first year on the coaching staff; he was named Associate Head Men’s Soccer Coach the following season. The Screaming Eagles of Si Tanka University went on to the NAIA National Championship Tournament the following two seasons.

Coach Farley then moved on to Dakota Wesleyan University where, once again he was named the Associate Head Men’s Soccer Coach. At DWU he was on a coaching staff that started the soccer program and entered their first season of play in 2004. After the initial season, Coach Farley was named the Head Coach. Under Coach Farley’s guidance, the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers made it to the Region III Finals twice. In 2006, his team was awarded the Buffalo Fund Champions of Character Award which is given to one team in the entire nation in each sport of the NAIA and is based on the five character values of respect, responsibility, servant leadership, integrity and sportsmanship.

Looking ahead, Coach Farley says that he is very excited about the future of Iowa Lakes Soccer. “I really look forward to the challenge of building a strong soccer program from the ground up”, Farley said. “I have received a strong commitment from the Iowa Lakes Administration and the community of Spencer. The college is very committed to giving us what we need to compete and be a winner. I will give my total commitment to getting us there while being a strong addition to the Spencer Community.”
