About RSVP
RSVP
is part of a national network of programs called
the Senior Corps that recruits adults 55 and
older to use their skills, talents and life
experience to help meet community needs through
volunteer service. RSVP is sponsored in
northwest Iowa by Iowa Lakes Community College.
RSVP volunteers
choose what they want to do, when they want to
do it. Opportunities for service are as diverse
as the volunteers themselves. Volunteers change
lives by mentoring and tutoring young people.
They deliver nutritious meals to home-bound
older residents and drive people to medical
appointments. They visit frail elderly people in
their homes or in care facilities. RSVP
volunteers work to protect the environment and
promote homeland security through special
activities and projects.
Whether teaching
children or adults to read, providing needed
transportation, or supplying support to local
public and non-profit agencies, RSVP volunteers
are making a difference in the lives of
individuals, while at the same time, they are
strengthening their communities.
